This online professional development course will explore the Three Stages of Reading and how they can benefit your students in secondary social studies. We will examine:
•A Model Lesson.
•Strategies for Before Reading to prepare your students for reading.
•Strategies for During Reading, including graphic organizers.
•Making reading stick with After Reading Activities.
✨This course will be broken up into 3 different parts – the first of which is a 30 minute video on reading strategies.
✨After you have finished watching the video, you will move on to the second part, which is looking at more multiple strategies to support reading. You will receive a Literacy Manual full of ideas for you to look at.
✨The 3rd part is creation. You will receive a lesson plan template to design your own lesson based on the stages of reading.
❤️I will issue a certificate for 2 hours of CPE – please follow the directions on the “Read Me First” handout.
