Description

What was life really like in Texas during the Civil War? How do we know? What can your students learn from analyzing artifacts from the past?

This lesson is designed to help students better understand the effects of the Civil War in Texas. Students will analyze photographs, songs and newspapers from the Civil War to identify its impact on life in Texas. After an analysis of the primary sources, students will create their own song or newspaper detailing life during this turning point in Texas History.

You will receive:

-a PDF presentation and a PowerPoint presentation – either of these presentations will guide you through the different steps of the lesson

-detailed lesson plan – this lesson plan will have the specific details you need for your Interactive Student Notebook

-graphic organizer – you will receive a graphic organizer to use in your Interactive Student Notebook or to use as a handout

-primary source newspaper articles – these are excerpts from different newspaper articles that your students can use to learn about life in Texas during the Civil War

-an Interactive Student Notebook assignment – the entire lesson can be added to your Interactive Student Notebook for Social Studies
