Comment “TXBALL” for your FREE Famous Texans End of the Year Activity!

Here’s how it works:
1️⃣ Students pick a historical figure.
2️⃣ They research the person (or if time is limited, you can provide the information).
3️⃣ Students will create a resume, business card, and speech for the historical figure.
4️⃣ Prepare for the ball with food, drink, and music. Students should use costumes and props to represent their figure.
5️⃣ At the ball, students will mingle, exchange business cards, and give their speeches. They’ll also try to get their autograph sheet signed by all the other famous historical figures.

This activity is so much fun! If you decide to try it, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Quality question are at the heart of Social Studie Quality question are at the heart of Social Studies Success!

Jacki Walsh and Beth Sattes have researched the lack of wait time provided by teachers and the instructional implications of low level, limited response questions.

If good questions help students learn, then teachers need to take time to plan quality questions.

Alternative response formats are scaffolds to help students develop complex thinking. Observe how to use quality questioning in all of our professional development sessions.
