Description
Do your students understand the similarities and differences between the US and Texas Constitution? Dig deep into the different constitutions while your students explore the essential question “Texas or the US – Who does it better?” through primary sources and background essays.
Students will begin this lesson with a preview activity where they make a bar graph representing a good government. They will then read a background essay and discuss the similarities and differences between the US and Texas Constitution. After they have completed the “Stop and Discuss” Questions embedded into the essay, they will analyze different primary sources on three different documents – Amending the Constitution, Principles of Government and the Bill of Rights. An outline will then be used to guide students in the final step, writing an essay using the documents.
